ABOUT

To say in short, I am an avid bass player. I chose bass guitar when I was around 11 years old (2007-2008) when a couple of friends and I decided we would start a band. It didn't work out because we had no idea what the hell we were doing, but I must thank a family friend of mine who purchased a bass guitar set for me on that year's Christmas. It would start a series of events that led me to ultimately pursue bass guitar.

During Middle School and High School (2009-2015), I was in music class for most of those years. I played tuba which allowed me to easily transition to the bass guitar. In my first year of middle school, I would practice my tuba and bass guitar at the same time. I would spend my time trying to figure out what notes sounded the same, and I would play my tuba parts with the bass guitar. Obviously, I would make sure my bass was in tune by using my tuba. I began to expand my bass playing; eventually forming a band with my friend and my brother when we were 13 and 14 years old. Even though we only got together to practice and jam out, we never took our music playing to any gigs or live shows. We called ourselves 'Funk Revival'. Our aim was to play sounds like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a few others.

While that didn't work out, my family at that time were serious church-goers, specifically Christian. Because my family was also big into music, the church let us perform worship music for the church every Sunday. We would also perform at local church gatherings where several local churches would come together and perform worship tunes. This went on for 2 & 1/2 years.

I have since gotten better, honed in my skills, and I've constantly come up with bass riffs. While I try to come up with something that sounds good or cool, I try to come up with something where other instruments can easily add their parts. I've also experimented with keyboards, electronic sounds, and music programs. There is one program I frequently use called Band Lab, and I've written quite a bit of songs. Every week, I would say I am either messing with the music program or playing my bass about 3 times a week.

That's enough about me, but I would love to meet other like-minded musicians. I am a very free-spirited and open-minded musician. My favorite thing is to always start a music session by jamming out with others and seeing where it goes; letting the music carry you and your bandmates. While I'm open to it, I am not a fan of covering others' songs. Originals are where it's at. I've found in all my time of playing music that if you try to perfect, copy, or limit your music playing, you will never allow yourself to fully and personally experience music. I'll leave you with this; if you're not messing up or failing, you're not learning anything new.

Influences

I'll start by saying my biggest influence is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their variety of genres, experimental sounds, amazing live performances, etc; everything about their style and ability is what I love. Flea is of course one of my biggest idols. He

EQUIPMENT

At the moment, I am rocking a Fender FA-450CE Acoustic Bass. Very minimal, but it's perfect for an apartment environment. Unfortunately, I don't have an amp or other equipment. I at least have a bunch of extra picks lol.

Also, I have a Yamaha MX88 Synthesizer keyboard with a stand. I have some cables that can hook up to a computer, so there is that as a plus. I've only pulled the thing out maybe twice. The keys hit so hard that the downstairs neighbors think I'm possessed or something.
