ABOUT

I've been drumming for over 50 years; many, many styles. Studio and live, small venue (10) to large venue (+5,000). I can cover just about any style you care to throw at me; mixed meter, dynamic changes, tempo shifts.... I love music that challenges me, and I love to challenge the musicians I play with.

I'm interested in a band that:

1. ...plays interesting, challenging music - odd tempos and varying dynamics encouraged - original or cover,
2. ...is not afraid of being challenged by a drummer who can drive the band, flip the rhythm around, and who will force you to excel at your instrument,
3. ...progressive rock, GOOD pop, eclectic jazz, jam band, rock, blues...
4. ...changes dynamics from light and ethereal, to crushing,
5. ...is actively gigging (and getting at least $100 per gig per member)
6. ...does NOT play metal, screamo, shoegaze, modern alt rock...
7. ...is NOT interested in ego rituals, soap operas....

Also, I love working with original music.

I will work with a start-up band ONLY if the band is serious, has a goal, and is committed to being a gigging band. I'm not interested in wasting my time with an outfit that just wants "to get together and see what happens." I know this seems harsh, but I'm a professional, and I expect the people I work with to approach their music and instruments as professionals.

I have come to this position after working with a band that promised big things, festival gigs, warm-ups. Well, we wound up rehearsing for 16 MONTHS, and only played one gig, and that was a freebie! I'm never going down that road again.

Top-Line Pro Gear (see list); good attitude; open to changes.

Kit drums, Electronic Drums, Sampler, or full percussion. (See Equipment List)
