SEEKING
Band to Join.ABOUT
I can remember beating on pots and pans in the living room when I was much younger. Growing up I learned the basics of drumming by either listening to other artists, or watching their movements and trying to replicate them. It wasn't until High School that I started playing concert/orchestral percussion. I would've started much sooner, but it was never explained to me what the term 'percussion' meant when it came time for instrument lessons - go figure. I'm actually musically trained as a brass player.

Influences
I'm not sure how much I want to admit this, but my biggest musical influence growing up was Phil Collins.
Now - before you go off on that particular bit hear me out...
When I was growing up music was always played in our house. My mother would have cassettes (yes, I said cassettes..) of bands like Heuy Lewis and the News, NOVA, Starship, Quiet Riot, and Phil Collins all over the house - just to name a few. What was awe-inspiring, at least at that age, was his ability to both sing AND be a drummer. I wanted to be just like him - to be able to sing and play simultaneously.
I also look at current drummers for inspiration: Morgan Rose (Sevendust) and Jeremy Spencer (5FDP) are the first off the top of my head...
