ABOUT

Hello!

My name is Adam Cain - I am a composer, vocalist, drummer - among other things - who uses electronic and classic rock n' roll instruments to compose and produce music.

I'm seeking politically-motivated musicians to record a 3-5 song demo. This original music is written with mostly lots of electronic instruments which, I think would be cool to replace with humans. It is funky, punk psycho-electric drum-based shiz so I'm hoping for an exceptional drummer and/or percussionist, as well a funky bass player. It would be awesome to have a couple of folks on marching band-type bass drums, but that's probably down the line - we'll see if there's any interest. For guitar, I'm thinking Frank Zappa/King Crimson-esque... weird-ish, but not overdone. I play the drums myself but will be singing during live performances. Anyone interested should have no fear of crazy psychedelic effects... with that being said, I like weird, but also need to stay within a certain range of palatability. Please honor my plea as I'm only interested in professional-type musicians. I take practice seriously (ie. don't come to practice drunk or drugged) and value my time as I hope you do... This project could be tons of fun - I have a lot of ideas in mind but we will have to put scheduled time into practicing parts for the recordings.

I was raised near the Outer Banks of North Carolina, so I'm a southern boy at heart, but love Portland and now consider it home. I am charismatic and driven by society's ills, which number in the Too Mas-Many, Mi Amigos! I know for a fact since I suffer from PTSD. I am regularly discriminated against due to PTSD and a severe medical condition, currently known of only as "transgender". Personally, I don't own that label especially since I am now just a couple of surgeries away from being 100% the normal guy I've always felt I was (so far, I've had 4 major corrective surgeries since September 2015). My songs aren't about my medical condition and I don't base my life, friendships or music around it, so don't be concerned about that being the theme of the project. I have no intention of being pigeon-holed due to a medical condition.

If this project sounds interesting at all, please do send a message. I have practice/recording space and will be available in the afternoons and evenings up to 9pm cut off time as agreed to with neighbors. It would be really cool to have a stand-up bass perform all the bass lines in this project, but I don't know enough about it to know if that's possible. Definitely want a stand-up bass or cello to perform the lower of 2-3 flutes for the song "Wax in the Moonlight" (using an effects pedal to somewhat mimic a Native American flute sound, of course!).

Musical Millennials are highly encouraged to inquire. I think we could help each other's generations out by working together, which has been my motto since forever. My hope is that humanity learns how to get along with and enjoy each other by working together, learning from mistakes and following some semblance of moral behavior whether you are spiritual, religious, atheist, agnostic or whatever... I believe we all matter - even people we don't necessarily like. It's all about respect and balance. We can all learn a lot from each other if we just lighten up and pay attention.

The truth shall set you free and you're always right if you admit when you're wrong...
