ABOUT

FEB. 18, 2024: I intend to drastically update and overhaul my profile!!! For the past year I have been heavily focusing on accordion of all things.

The part of the bandmix profile that says "select up to 3 genres of music" is very limiting. So here's everything I'm interested in from what they have to choose from...acoustic, classical, folk, jazz, southern rock, ('90s) alternative rock, (old) country, bluegrass, cover songs, blues, classic rock, and the list goes on.

My main instrument is guitar. I've been playing it for 18 years now. I'm a solid rhythm AND lead player. Rhythm guitar is so much more than just playing background chords. It's knowing how to fill things out, how to support what's going on be it the vocalist or lead player. It's knowing when to "be in the background" and when to charge things up. Lead guitar, especially improvisation, is so much more than playing a solo. It's expressing emotion, taking charge of the music and taking it to another level, knowing when to rip loose and when to hold back, when to calm things down or charge things up, feeling and building upon and working with the rhythm section in harmony, taking the solo to a destination and knowing when to end it. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I know what it actually means to be a "strong" rhythm and lead guitarist, and I enjoy being both.

I'm also very proficient on the keyboard. I'm a bit slow to start depending on the song, but it's because I'm a bit of a perfectionist and want to find the right voicings for a given chord progression.

I'm looking for:
---a band/musicians that want to have a good time playing music
---musicians that want to gig regularly
---musicians that don't have egos (at least not excessive ones) and enjoy learning from one another
---strong and confidant musicians
---musicians that are easy to get along with
---about anything else that fits into that

Seriously, if anybody out there has a band or project that they think I might be interested in, or they think I might be a good fit for it, or even if it's something random and off the wall and you're just looking for a distant possibility, I urge you to just go ahead and contact me on and see what becomes of it. I'm always glad to meet new musicians and increase my musical contacts.

Influences

"Influences" is a tricky question because I'm literally influenced by almost everything I listen to and everybody I meet, at least in one way or another. I used to be influenced by "the greats" and the famous people you hear on the radio and whatnot, but honestly over the years my fellow musician friends have influenced my musicianship probably more than anybody famous ever has, and I've developed a personal style and direction of my own that can't be attributed to any specific person.

EQUIPMENT

Stevie Ray Vaughan signature series Stratocaster
Early '60s Gibson Melody Maker
'80s Yamaha classical guitar
Fender Princeton Chorus Plus amplifier
Yamaha Arius 160 digital piano
Roland E-38 keyboard
Rover mandolin
Cremona violin

I also have a few effects pedals, but I don't get much into them. My effects pretty much stick to overdrive/distortion, chorus, and a little wah-wah.
