I am intrigued with the possibility of coming up with a band that touts itself as a "Bakersfield to Haight-Ashbury" combo, specializing in music of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The focus would be on what these days is called "jamming," but what used to be par for the course at the Fillmore.
Ideally, I'd like to find another guitar player and/or steel player who can handle Garcia/Betts/Roy Nichols/Clarence White/Sneaky Pete licks, a bass player who can improvise, and a drummer (or two) who can do likewise.
Any other lead instruments would be gravy.
This band would be an "historical concept band," and learn enough covers to play for pay. Fast learners preferred.
BTW, this would not be a cover band to pander to the redneck crowd.
Experience and decent gear are much preferred.
