About
Years of gigging experience, solid chops and groove, versatile. Well-trained ear, good grasp of music theory, read music. Learn recorded bass lines accurately or can improvise quality bass parts for covers or originals.
Play everything from classic and contemporary country to any mainstream genre, styles such as jazz-influenced or acoustic pop/rock, classic pop/rock/Top 40 and R&B.
Not gimmicky or overly busy - traditional approach of holding down the bottom, but can fill tastefully and creatively as appropriate. Focus on keeping great time and playing with good tone, touch and dynamics. Can solo credibly, but more into being a solid rhythm section player. Good enough ear for harmonies to provide some backing vocals.
Influences
Classic R&B and country bassists such as Duck Dunn, Norbert Putnam, modern Nashville and all-purpose pop studio bassists such as Glenn Worf, Mike Brignardello, Michael Rhodes, Lee Sklar, David Hungate. Jazzy/funky pop players: Chuck Rainey, Wilton Felder. Bassists with bands: Tully Kennedy (Jason Aldean), Hutch Hutchinson (Bonnie Raitt), Paul S. Denman (Sade), Graham Maby (Joe Jackson).
