Band to Join, Lead Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Drums.ABOUT
Hey, I'm Brian. I've been in a couple of bands over the years, from grungy metal to instrumental rock. I've got a regular job, so I'm in it for the fun of playing music with other people, and most of my availability is on weekends. I've played plenty of power-chord heavy guitar (usually while singing), but I prefer bass. I'm interested in getting together with a musician or two just to play what sounds good. If it goes well, we can start playing at open mics or small local shows, but probably no more than once a month.
Prefer a similar commitment level, mid-twenties to mid-thirties. No religious fundamentalists, no hard-core right wingers, unless you're super open-minded and friendly to people very different from you :)

Influences
I like all kinds of stuff, but want to play something in range of heavier indie rock (White Stripes/Arctic Monkeys) to something post-rock (65daysofstatic). I'm also okay with things that lean toward the experimental or avante-garde. I prefer originals to covers, but think learning a couple of covers may be a perfectly reasonable place to start. I probably don't want to be in anything screamy, and while I like to do more than just chug along on the root, I'm also not a virtuoso. I try to find a nice, melodic groove to complement what everybody else is playing.

More influences: Oingo Boingo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Modest Mouse, Radiohead, Cake, Dresden Dolls/Amanda Palmer, John Frusciante, Faith No More, Parliament, Gogol Bordello, Electric Six, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Gorillaz, modern indie, 90s alternative, a dash of hip-hop, and some metal. Some jazz. Not really a fan of country, R&B, or blues.

Crash and Burn
Crash and Burn Year: 2014 Genre: Metal
A song from a metal project I was in a few years ago. Rough recording, done in one take 'cause we had about 30 mins of studio time to kill. It's a song about the old science fiction movie "Robot Jox." :)
