ABOUT

Concept: Look up Jorn Lande on the tube of you.

I've an artist account at RN as- thestarlightblue. Double you, double you, double you, dot, 'site name', backslash, thestarlightblue. Suggested listening: Geodon Marches on Dallas, Summer Storm, On the Edge of a Daydream, Smooth Groove, Love My Way (remake), Loving (Eastern semi-unplugged), The Curtain (electro-vox), Synthganic, For My Son Zadok, Broken, Starlight Blue (smoove' jazz), Epic Romance Movie, El Amor Nace de un Flachazo, and Le Poursuite en Voiture are part of my works.

Take any pop song from as far back as the 1920s to now. Make it melodic power metal with progressive and fusion hues. Jazz, smooth jazz is another variation of the above idea.

Audiences immediately recognize "that song" but are blown away with the new arrangements. Think TSO covering "Hotel California", "I Feel It Coming", "Ride Like The Wind", "Don't Say a Prayer", "Eyes Without a Face", and all those tunes the audience with a job, money and tons of nostalgia they want to live again will crave. Our 'target' audiences can experience a full electric set or intimate unplugged(esque) set in different venues from rock to Soho Jazz (for example) yet each one powerful, stirring and very unique. A band can that kind of 'flexible'. Audiences will want more and look forward to our return. Then we ease in our own material having established ourselves as always delivering what audiences want- escape. They will as we take them "there" prime number after prime number. A new kind of super-group (for around here at least).

What say you?

My background:
32 years in the biz. Worked up to mastering engineer; started out as a lead/rhythm guitarist and bgv in five piece (we performed rock, hard rock, classic rock/metal, progressive rock, AOR, pop, top 40, southern rock, & country cover easing in our own originals).

Co-founder Seventh Day Slumber in 1996 (unlisted 'member') with ex-wife, and Joseph Rojas(only remaining original founding member). Co-founder Loadfactor in 2000; recorded two CDs, two singles released internationally on modern rock syndication, ran for two weeks. Largest audience- 40,000.

Reiterations:
Looking to form cover band that will develop originals. Add originals as audience and fan base grows. Move from mostly covers then originals to mostly originals. Instead of the typical though, pull from more than radio stock by including b-side faves, rare cuts and alternative versions (remakes) to "own it" instead of being a live box. Offer more than just the usual.

Wants:
Musicians/vocalists who knows fan favorites, rare B-side fan favorites, album favorites; beyond typical cover standards. If unknown, open to it.

My Intent: I would take on, primarily, lead vocalist/guitarist (more vox, less guitar).

Gotta be:
Lead players (all) will share lead/rhythm guitar with a very skilled guitarist. They should not only play lead/rhythm with emotion (not just shred) but know her/his chords (m7, m9, 12, 6/9, 2, sus4, 6, 7, 13, dim, aug, and poly chords)and how to use them. Artists who are familiar with more than typical box patterns (knows of at least- minor natural, diminished, minor ninth, egyptian/harmonic minor, major blues, minor blues, pentatonic, tapping, jazz flavors, fusion treatments, neo-classical fusion, etc. or at least familiar with what those are), can play melodically as well as technically, not afraid of feed back from an amp or effect (knows how to use it), and very comfortable sharing all vocal lead/bgvs responsibilities if songs need it; otherwise he/she should focus on their instrument(s) and craft. Vocals a plus, but not required but very welcome.

A Bassist who can 'hang' knowing both runs and chords. Comfortable being up front instead of a wall flower. Good stage presence. Vocals a plus, not required yet very welcome.

Keyboardist (mix of modern and classic synth- analog, FM, vocoder, Hammond B3, piano, Rhodes etc. and can play leads (hang with the guitarists). Comfortable being highlighted. Good stage presence. Vocals a plus, not required but very welcome.

Drummer who is always 'in the pocket' and not too busy, but more than able to shine with a small cocktail to moderate sized kit that is very apt with dynamics, double kick, syncopation, tight and consistent with stamina to be able to perform up to four to five hour gigs once we work up to that. Comfortable with being highlighted. Good stage presence. Vocals a plus, not required but very welcome.

In essence any instrumentalist or vocalist should be a well rounded person both in music and personality.

All musicians really would need to be able to interpret and use a basic chord chart and fake book (lyrics with chords) to assist in learning material effeciently.

Collaborative group all the way (of course); every member has equal input and voice. Not a dictatorship.
