I have set up this profile because I've been feeling a bit lost lately. Music is something I've been surrounded with all my life, but I don't feel I've really admitted how significant it is to me. I come from a very musical family, and as a kid, I took lessons in piano and drums. I was always around choir music at church and classical music. I grew up on classic rock, and really didn't develop my own taste in music until college. Everything changed with a high school drum teacher I had, who taught me how to really listen to music. My band resume is very short, a couple of years with a (primarily) cover band in high school, but if the right opportunity came along, I'd love to play with a group again. I feel most comfortable at the piano, but I've found myself singing a lot lately. Definitely not a pro, just someone that would like to find someone (one or more) to play or sing with. Many songs I've composed are just for piano, but I've tried to write down lyrics when appropriate. Pretty inexperienced with written music, but I have a very sharp ear and can pick things up quickly aurally.

Influences

Grew up on classic rock: Billy Joel, Eagles, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Elton John, etc. Modern influences are Vanessa Carlton, Blink-182, Green Day, Dream Theater. Favorite band is Yellowcard, who have recently completed their final tour. Very diverse musical taste which can't possibly be listed in this box.

Piano: I have never played a more beautiful piano than my late-1990s Boston (by Steinway) upright grand. Not practical for a gig, but I can't imagine writing music seated anywhere else.
