Band to Join.ABOUT
I've been playing bass for more than 15 years and guitar for more than 10. Bass is definitely my primary instrument though.
I've been in two local bands, one a hard rock band I'm not terribly proud of (Half Mast, 1998-1999) and the other a band I was extremely proud to be a part of (Cedar Avenue, 2000-2002). With Cedar Ave. we played a number of shows at local Minneapolis clubs (Fine Line, Red Sea Bar, New Union). I also played rhythm and lead guitar in a friend of mine's country/bar band back in 2009.
If you'd like to hear some samples I've set up a "tribute" page for Cedar Ave. here:

You don't want to hear samples of "Half Mast" :-)
I also played guitar/bass hundreds of times for my old church but I'm not sure if that really counts as "gigging".

Influences
My tastes very some but most of what I listen to is in the rock or alternative rock category.
Bass playing-wise my influences include Bob Sheehan (Blues Traveler), John Entwistle (The Who), and Flea (RHCP).
Guitar influences include SRV, Mark Knopfler and Jimmy Page.
My favorite band is Pearl Jam if that helps any.

Here's a little ditty I cooked up in GarageBand. I'm playing all the guitars and bass and GB is playing drums.

Another fun groove I came up with and recorded in about 20 minutes. Again, everything on here but the drums is me...
