ARTIST BIO
Cool Hip Priest (CHP) is comprised of two members, Father Chris and DoniRox, and originated in Indianapolis Indiana in 2010. Singing together as worship ministers at a small, urban church on Indy’s Southeast Side gave them a chance to find their sound. In finding their sound “Mercy Metal”, CHP found their sound a little harder and louder than some church settings prefer. Soul-felt harmonies are mixed with dissident chords, who then met metal guitar, intricate drumming and conscious biblical lyrics. The heart of the band is centered in Christ and our hope is to openly share The Good News in the coolest, hippest way possible.
CHP’s first EP titled Witness is a balance of the worship that the Holy Spirit led them to share with others, and the rawness of life that only metal can portray. Father Chris is responsible for all instrumentation on the Witness Ep (lead vocals, lead guitar, backing guitar, Bass, and drums as well as lyrics). DoniRox is responsible for lead vocals, backing vocals, lyrics, and style (lots of style).
CHP has had the pleasure of opening for Travis and Kelly Frank, Fair Warning, Chaotic Resemblance, Whitecross, Petra and Stryper. They have also played with The Don Stuck Band, and been featured on his local radio shows including the Stuck and Gunner podcast. Having a versatile stageband has been important to keeping variety in their shows. They perform as either a duet (Just Father Chris and Doni (Acoustic, or Electric), or a full stage band.
Selective Memory Magazine did a write up on CHP November 2016. Bill Iles, B Flynn Concert Photography, and Rebel Iron Magazine have done photo spreads on Cool Hip Priest.
2017 took Cool Hip Priest to Jacksonville, FL, York, PA, Beloit, WI, Cape Coral, FL, Salisbury, NC, Pittsburgh, PA, Matthew’s, IN, and Indianapolis, IN . Our prayer is that God allows us to travel further abroad in 2018 to spread his Gospel and Love.
