ABOUT

My name is Tristan, and I specialize in slapping the stand-up bass. Although my main focus has been the American Roots spectrum, including early jazz, blues, rockabilly, country, and bluegrass, I am extremely versatile and capable of playing everything from reggae to cumbias to aggressive rock. I most enjoy playing in projects with a diversity of feels. I also play electric bass, but prefer upright. I can read charts or commit songs to memory; whichever is necessary.

Aside from a strong musical skill set, I am punctual, professional, and VERY easy to get along with; something that anyone who has spent time in this industry can appreciate. Having toured extensively as a headlining act in the US and Europe, I am a veteran of the road and have numerous contacts to show for it. I know how to balance business with fun, and conduct myself appropriately with audiences and employers.

While I pride myself on playing well, I place great importance on the performance aspect of live music. I have an energetic stage presence that resonates well with audiences. I truly love to play, and this results in audiences who love to watch.

I grew up in Santa Cruz, playing with a group called The Chop Tops. After high school I attended CSU Fullerton, and toured with Three Bad Jacks from 07-09. Since then I've played primarily with Phil Alvin of The Blasters, and have gigged with all sorts of folks from James Intveld to Eddie Nichols (Royal Crown Revue), and many many more. I do a lot of sub work and one-offs, but would like something steady again.
