I'm a 34 year old lead guitar player from Hurricane. I've been out of the scene for a while but now I'm looking to jump back in. I'm really wanting to start up a heavy stoner rock band with straight forward guitar riff driven music. Not Slayer... but not ACDC either. In the middle. I want it to be based on the riffs... just good, punchy, catchy, in your face riffs. Like Sabbath was all about the riffs. Not saturated with effects and all watered down. I want pure tone. Grass roots approach to rock... hot tube amps and even hotter riffs... maybe a fuzz pedal inbetween. ;) I want a really good rhythm section... nice and tight like Tool. Even some semi progressive runs and phrases, like Dream Theater or Mastodon. Not a super blazing fast solo on every song but nice lead work here and there just to add to the flavor. There aren't many bands like this around here currently and I think it would really go far with the crowds. No screamo stuff... but actual understandable words. I'm looking for a vocalist, drummer and a bassist with like minded tastes. Local would be nice but 20 or 30 miles out wouldn't be too bad. Anyone interested would need to meet a few simple criteria before being considered. If you can't... then please don't waste either of our time replying.
1. Must be honest, trustworthy, reliable, responisble and not a thief.
2. Must have their own equipment
3. must have their own vehicle to get back and forth to practice and/or gigs
4. NOT be a druggie/alcoholic (social drinker is fine)
5. be able to practice AT LEAST once a week
