I am looking to jam. You know, with music. Maybe a few misfits who haven’t yet found their sound in Norway? A bunch of semi-trained acoustic or electric, musical, enthusiastic, passionate, no-strings-attached kind of bunch who semi-regularly get together and just crank it to 11? Little talking, more music.
This means, people who want to play around with strange rhythms, existing songs done in funky experimental ways.
No sheet music! My experience is this sometimes devolves into people copying songs exactly (although super unique covers are always great fun). Also no pressure to perform or for anything to come out of this other than enjoyment.
Hopefully there are others out there who share this aspiration of a closeted musician.
Keen to explore the following… Funk, soul, R&B, reggae & dub, rocksteady, jazz, salsa, taarab, rhumba or whatever mix you wana bring to the table.
A bit about me, I am a classically-trained violinist, have played in orchestras and chamber music. Tchaikovsky and Sibelius are my classical go-tos. In highschool I sat down at a drum kit and never looked back. Formed a funk band that ended up recording a semi-produced album. Also ended up finding my way around a guitar and other percussion.
If someone has a venue that could play host such a rambunctious bunch, I am willing to put down some funds towards a drumkit and some gear to get things going. Always better in a relaxed venue like a garage, hytte or somewhere noise is not an issue, as opposed to somewhere you pay by the hour.
