ABOUT

Remember Sly (Stone, not Stallone)? The Rascals (Felix and Eddie, not Spanky and Alfalfa)? Sam and Dave? Joe Tex? Otis (Rush and/or Redding)? Wilson Pickett? Booker T (Jones, not Washington)? The Genius (Ray Charles)? Chicago (the original lineup with Kath, Lamm, Cetera and Seraphim)? BS&T (no, not Bacon, Spam and Tomato)? Know Tower of Power, Tierra and/or Malo? Etc... I do; I grew up diggin' them and, more importantly, playing their music. I am obviously no kid; I am a 67-year old guitarist/arranger/composer who has been playing for more than 50 years but had to give up gigging (except for a few tip-jar solo gigs) for about forty years for the more important chore of raising a family. I always said "some day"-- Well, now that my kids are grown and I'm retired, maybe that day is now! Nobody's playing this stuff any more and I want to bring it back! I'm looking for folks like me--mature musicians who are more interested in making real music than in making megabucks. I need everything but me: bass, drummer, keyboard (who can use my rather nice PSR-640 if they don't have one of their own), horns (the standard BS&T/Tower of Power lineup) and vocalists of both genders. I can supply the chartwork, a rudimentary PA and rehearsal space if you don't mind coming way out here in the boonies where we're not going to piss anyone off except maybe some cows and buzzards). Interested? My name is John--call me!
