Our band ‘Under Covers’ just started up and currently consists of two female vocalists. One is a keyboard player and teaches keyboard for a living. Our drummer is Rick Chester and my son Mark is an excellent guitar player and graduated from McNally Smith in guitar before getting his Bachelors degree. Mark will sit in on gigs. I’m currently looking for a male bass player/singer and possibly another keyboard player. Our keyboard player doesn’t like singing and playing at the same time. An accomplished lead guitar player would also be great. I recently started playing lead so definitely not accomplished. To give you a feel for who we are, we’re all older 50+ professionals or retired professionals who just love music and have been playing for a long time. I played bass in many rock and R&B bands. We’re busy people and rolling out this band by doing vocal arrangements first before getting the whole band together. I’ll send out chord charts and when the vocals start up will send out audio of the song arrangements. We live in River Falls, Hudson, St Paul and Lake Elmo so we’re scattered around. Our goal is just to have fun, enjoy each other’s company and perhaps when we have enough sets volunteer the band for non profit fund raisers. None of us have the time to gig on a regular basis nor are we in it for the money. We’re very liberal in our views so just full disclosure if that makes a difference to you. We don’t talk politics, just music but some of us are politically active.

Influences
Currently bands doing innovative vocal forward covers of great songs. The play list below will give you a feel for the type music I enjoy. Guitar influences are BB King, Clapton, John Mayer, Steve Cropper because my “core years love these songs” is all R&B from James Brown to EWR, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson’s, Marvin Gaye, Spinners and like that. But these days you’ll mainly find me a Clapton Guitar fest, Mayer concert or watching Daryl’s Place on be with some cool guest artist.

EQUIPMENT
main guitar right now is a PRS Silver Sky in rose. Love this guitar. Perfect 60’s start sound. I also play a 60’s Fender strat like the Beatles blue strat. I have a few Martin’s and often play my Blueridge dreadnaught when playing acoustic. I have a custom made Kinal bass and play through a Blim modified Blues Jr or just my Yamaha THR at home. Also have a Gibson Goldtone tube like the Trace Elliots which I used to collect.
