ABOUT

Generator is an original Progressive Rock trio from St. George, Staten Island, NY. Descended from prior projects, the band has had the same lineup for over 25 years and continues to write and develop material, old and new.

All three members contribute to the song writing process both musically and lyrically and although Generator music blends varying styles, influences and harmonic colors reminiscent of the progressive bands of the 1970s and 80s, while maintaining the edge and spark of "classic rock", the band retains their own unique signature sound. Combined to create songs both melodic, prolific and complex, the resulting musical and thematic scope transcends that of mainstream popular music. Chances are, if you like the genre of music which includes the likes of Rush, Marillion, Genesis, Saga, jethro Tull, Zebra and Yes, you'll probably be at home with Generator's sound. The band's impressive full, "complete" live sound, both instrumentally and vocally, belies the limitations of a three piece.

Generator is currently preparing a 3 Volume release in celebration of the trio's 25th Anniversary to be released in Summer and Fall 2012. Volumes I & II will feature songs performed live but never recorded in a studio, as well as, a few remakes of tunes from earlier recordings. Vol. III will feature re-masters of 2 previous releases from 1988 and 1991.
Much of the pre-production work has been done virtually as the members now live in different areas of the country. It has been a monumental task trying to record music with this kind of depth, polish and complexity when the musicians are not in the same room together!

Looking towards the future, Generator will begin to work on an album of new music to be released in 2013, making it the first new musical offering by the band in the new century! Although the band is separated by distance and limited by time and logistics, the members have not ruled out the possibility of a reunion gig and follow-up tour in the near future.
