Band to Join.

ABOUT

I am by definition an "old timer" hipster type with a history of being involved and performing in an assortment of "garage" bands for close to 50 years, most recently with Axe Envy, a local Miami hard driving rock and blues group with a female singer with a big voice. I am still a working (real day time job - school teacher) man with a moderate amount of time to put into joining an established working band.
I want to join a band or build a band who come ready to a rehearsal with their part for a new song already learned and don't mind working hard to put it down tight and clean, Rehearsals need to have goals to build solid sets. That is my ideal not always the reality. My desire is to "gig out" maybe twice a month but would certainly be ready to jam and rehearse at least once a week either a weekday evening or preferably a weekend daytime spot. Making a lot of money is not my goal but would like to be compensated for playing out. Don't like "Free gigs". Mostly want to get with a fun group of talented people who really like to work and play together (in Miami-Dade) and make great music. Original music welcome. Very flexible taste in music as long as it is well played and tight. At this junction in my life I need a band with great dynamics who understand the art of playing soft at times and using volume with subtlety (loud is OK sometimes) but not just blasting balls of testosterone induced hearing loss.

Influences

Multiple influence too long to list...blues (Dr. John), R & B (Ruth Brown), jazz, old standards, Classic Rock such as Morrison, Dylan, Stones (Can't Ya Hear Me Knockin') , Floyd (Great Gig in the Sky)...again just appreciate good music well played with passion and drive and skill. Have done a lot of Classic Rock but have really enjoyed new sound and construction...acoustic, electric, whatever!
Check out videos! Two from my last band , Axe Envy, feature audio of my playing to give you a taste of one style...my promotional video provides a taste of other genres in my repertoire.
