Hi, my name is Sonya. I've been playing the drums since I was 12 years old, but was off and on, as my daytime job had to be my priority.
The last few years I have been able to jump back in the saddle, and have been very committed to advancing my percussion skills. I have a couple guitarist friends that I play with, and I've played several open mic shows with a local cover band, sitting in for their drummer. I practice/play nearly every day. I would say that I am a very solid intermediate drummer. I'm not going to describe myself as advanced as I am still learning the more difficult things like polyrhythms and odd time signatures, but as far as blues, indie, classic rock, blues/rock, I can pretty much handle whatever is thrown at me. Also, I have very consistent timing.
I have professional gear and am very easy to work with. I don't use drugs of any kind, nor am I irresponsible or flaky.
I'm looking to join an intermediate level band, or partner up with intermediate level musicians-- or advanced musicians, as long as you're friendly :) I would like, eventually, to gig out as much as possible-- with either cover songs or originals.
I work for myself, so I have a very flexible schedule. I am available days/nights/weekends. I have a music room to practice here at home and I also don't mind driving to you.
I am an artist/photographer/graphic designer by trade, and have done countless professional band and musician shoots, and I have designed the artwork for many bands and musicians' CD's, and promo photos and posters.
