Jaime Cruz is a professional musician, and guitarist specializing in education and performance. Jaime has studied music and the guitar in a variety of styles including jazz, rock, pop, funk, blues, alternative, Latin and classical. He was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, and began playing the guitar at the age of 12. Jaime played guitar throughout high school in the rock band and Ensemble performance group. It wasn't long before he developed a strong repertoire and a love for all styles of music. Ever since then, he has had a passion for the guitar and a thirst for performing and creating music.
Strongly influenced by the music of Carlos Santana, Joe Pass, Al Di Meola, and John McLaughlin. Jaime went on to further his studies at the Conservatory of Music in Puerto Rico. To further his career Jaime joined the United States Army Band and has been a member of the armed forces for 19 years. He used military benefits to educate himself in Music Performance and Education. Jaime earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Thomas Edison State University - Trenton, NJ
While serving as a 42R -9T (Guitar Player) he performed in full concert band performances, performances in marching, ceremonial, and concert bands, and performances in Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Ethnic. Some professional experience performance in London Beating Retreat Tattoo - 2018, Italy Embassy - 2018, Bremen Marching Tattoo, Basel, Switzerland 2017, Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Scotland - 2016, Montreux, Switzerland - 2016, Soul Arts Center, Soul Korea - 7th Korean American Friendship Holiday Concert. 2015, The U.S. and Korean Alliance Love of Nations Concert - Suwon District, South Korea 2015, Virginia International Tattoo - 2013.
Taught numerous musicians and led thousands of instructional rehearsals to prepare musicians for performances. Incorporated music and education while performing for school and Civilians audiences. Function effectively as a Public Relations representative through participation in various community venues and preparing/delivering speeches in English and Spanish at various speaking engagements. Served as senior band representative for numerous high-profile performances throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. Often the main point of contact when organizing logistics, protocol, and intent with foreign representatives. Technical skills include the ability to tune an instrument to a given pitch, transpose moderately easy music, and integrate software applications to enhance the delivery of information and gather and analyze information.
Today, Jaime works with the Ft Sam's Own’s 323rd Army Band and performs with a number of groups and small combos throughout Texas, and has been involved in several group projects. He continues to perform for the Unit and private parties, jazz festivals, concerts, and special events of all kinds. Jaime continues to indulge his passion for the guitar and teaches guitar and music theory privately.
