I have focused about 12 years on acoustif stuff classic rock and blues (Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan,etc...) and I am more into the heavy, minor, disturbed sound these days - things that make me think 'on the fly' and use scales and theory. I put down the guitar for about eight months because I got sidetracked while learning piano but I'm making a come-back and I'm ready to rock. Although I prefer not to listen to all screams, growls, and chord crunching, I love to rock it heavy to melodic progressive metal. I call it "classical metal".
