Hello Guitarist/Singers, and perhaps other Musicians in the Monterey/Carmel Valley/Santa Cruz/Salinas area!

I'm Janis, a natural harmony singer, a well-versed lead singer, and a seasoned and experienced performer who can also wield a tambourine and is comfortable, fit, personable, and engaging on-stage.

For the last year, I have been very busy actively playing paying gigs with a guitarist/singer/sound engineer as half of an eclectic rock duo performing at wineries and venues in and around Monterey, Carmel Valley, Soledad, and Santa Cruz, and we recently parted ways due to outside circumstances. With a few gigs currently on the books to fulfill, an art and wine festival booking in June, and active contacts with bookers and venues around these parts, I'm now seeking to find another capable and experienced guitarist with vocal abilities who can share singing lead and harmonies with me to form a new rock duo and start gigging within a month's time to have some fun, make some money, and fill up more dates throughout the summer and fall.

Although I'm seeking to form a duo, I am open to playing with additional musicians and instruments, or alternately, I would also consider joining an already-formed situation or band that could use an energetic and positive female lead and harmony singer.

I'd like to play a variety of cover songs that we both really love, and ideally, we both will bring to the table songs we already know well to create a catalog of work that melds our interests and influences. These could be rock songs, classics, alternative, or others that are a bit off the beaten path but that are well-loved; songs people are surprised to hear a band playing out, or unique arrangements of other songs that we make our own.

Some of the songs I played with my last duo included Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Sublime, Goo Goo Dolls, Stevie Nicks, Paul Simon, Green Day, The Moody Blues, Todd Rundgren, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams, Tom Petty, and more. I love all types of music and I'm hoping to find someone whose tastes jive with mine.

By day I am a professional Graphic Artist in the advertising and marketing sphere, and I have proven experience under my belt taking on those roles for my own band projects to ensure their success. I'm extremely effective at promoting and booking my bands and building solid relationships with the venues and bookers and nailing down paying gigs. I live in Carmel Valley, have a dependable car, and am willing and able to put in the effort, time, and money necessary for rehearsals, gigs, equipment, band promotions, making videos, and advertising in-market and on social media, to make our duo or group stand out, be noticed, and ultimately, get more gigs!
