ABOUT

I wanted to play guitar ever since I saw and heard The Beatles initially on the Saturday morning cartoon. Perhaps Ed Sullivan at the time.

I dabbled on a guitar for years. I didn't study guitar with a teacher until my early 30s, then quickly started playing at open mics in Greenwich Village: on MacDougal Street and Bleeker. There I participated in the Fast Folk songwriter community. I played solo for many years.

I formed a band around 2000. We named ourselves Sugar Mice. Three songwriters with an assortment of drummers sitting in. We rotated on lead vocals, harmony vocals, acoustic guitar, lead guitar and bass. We sang three-part harmonies. Once a week we played at one of the rehearsal studios on West 30th Street. Infrequently, we played out here and there. We finished recording two songs en route to an album of originals. We ultimately played one night at Kenny's Castaways, then disbanded shortly afterwards.

My wife and I and our son moved to New Jersey, Little Falls. I've played at many open mics in the Montclair area over the last ten years. Musician friends accompany each other here and there. I love playing guitar and continue learning as much as I can; learning more of the songs that I love, and theory; improving my ear, hearing the intervals and nailing the harmonies.

I'd liked to play with an assortment of other musicians in the area. Perhaps finding other like-minded individuals and form a band?
