Recently moved to the Bay Area from New York and looking to get back into jamming and gigging!
I’ve been playing guitar on and off for about 10 years. I can play enough guitar to get by - I know the basics, but you won’t find me shredding like Slash anytime soon.
I’m a much stronger vocalist than I am on the guitar. I sang in choir in high school, in an a cappella group in college, and started playing open mics and bar shows with a friend after college. I have a decent vocal range and can sing anywhere from Alto 2 to Soprano 1, but I’m most comfortable around Alto 1/Sop 2. Vocal style is sort of breathy, sometimes a little raspy (think: Amy Winehouse or Sia). My sister says I sound like “the quintessential Indie girl”, and my old jam partner says my sound is “modern, chill, acoustic mash-ups with a touch of soul”.
I stopping jamming and playing shows in September of 2017 because I moved to the Bay Area without knowing anyone out here. However, I recently sang and played guitar while my friend walked down the aisle on her wedding day, and the encouragement from friends and strangers alike reminded me of how much I missed jamming and performing.
I’m looking to be involved in music in any way that I can - living room jam sessions, open mics, playing shows at local bars, writing/recording songs, you name it! I like playing acoustic singer/songwriter sets, but I’d love to sing with a full band (percussion, brass, guitar, the works). I’m flexible with my singing style, and love collaborating with creative musicians. Looking forward to meeting some like-minded people out here and jumping into the Bay Area music scene!
