Hello, everyone! I'm Matthew. I am a rhythm electric guitarist, bassist, and rock singer/occasional screamer. I have playing music of multiple genres (rock, Christian contemporary, indie, ambient shoegaze-adjacent music, heavy metal, acoustic, etc.) and writing my own music for a few years now.
My favorite musical style to listen to and play is rock/hard rock. I love the sound of distorted guitars with scratchy vocals. I also like to play soft Christian rock, like what a praise band would play in contemporary church service. I think it would be to combine those two genres together, kind of like Flyleaf or some of Skillet's songs. When I listen to Christian radio, I hear a lot of songs that could translate to a heavier rock sound. If people do rock covers of pop songs, why not do that with Christian music (as well as write original, of course)? So that is where I am currently. Influences
Nirvana is the biggest for sure. Kurt Cobain is the reason I fell in love with music. I also love Lifehouse, Matthew West, Casting Crowns, Sitchfoot, Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet, Flyleaf, Tand various Christian worship bands.
