ABOUT

My name is Preston Koenig. I'm 23 and have been a drummer since about 3 (although, I didn't really get into it until about 12). I have been a first chair drummer since beginning band in elementary. I was a snare drummer on the drumline in my hometown for 7 years, and of those 7 years I spent 3 as the drum captain. I made the first chair region band position my junior year in high school, and participated in region jazz band for 2 years. I've been to state solo and ensemble twice; once with a multiple percussion solo and another with an ensemble that consisted of 3 drum set players. I played in a Dixie Band through high school, and have also sat in with a blues band called Sonny Wolf 2 or 3 times. I continued to play in college, at local bars, tailgates for football season, military bases, etc. So I have made my way around and played a few of the different genres. Of all the genres, country and classic rock are my favorite.

Influences

I grew up listening to country with my mom and step dad, and became interested in country and classic rock at a very early age. I have seen just about every country band there is (Kevin Fowler being my ALL TIME favorite of country), and have see a hand full of classic rock legends as well. (Journey is my favorite in that field). As I continued to watch all these bands preform and live their dream of playing music, it has peaked my interest to do the same. I live for music of all kinds, and would love nothing more that to be able to preform on stage for the rest of my life...hopefully professionally some day.
