I'm a singer-songwriter who mostly plays solo and sometimes duos with a flutist or percussionist. I play covers and originals. When solo I mostly play acoustic guitar and sing and occasionally use a harmonizer, drum machine, or backing track. I like all kinds of music. I play the songs I like, which range from pop, r&b, blues, alternative, classic rock, modern country, and folk/rootsy stuff. I've been in a couple of rock/blues cover bands as a lead singer and rhythm guitarist. I can play a little bass too.

I'm writing new songs, taking guitar lessons to enhance my skills, and taking beginner drum lessons.

I am familiar with sound engineering, recording/mixing/mastering, photography, and video. I have a home recording studio. I am a software engineer by day. And when not working or playing music I am active in the Portland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public service organization that serves the PDX community through our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust - Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness & Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, Political Awareness & Involvement/Social Action.

I am not a smoker, so not fond of breathing secondhand smoke. I drink socially and responsibly. No substance issues.

Influences

I don't know how much these artists influence my writing, playing, or singing, but when I was growing up I really liked Roberta Flake, Phoebe Snow, Natalie Cole, Carol King, Bonnie Raitt, Peabo Bryson and Donnie Hathaway. More recently I like Corinne Bailey Rae, India Arie, Adele, Ruthie Foster, Jill Scott, and Lauren Daigle. Guitar-wise, I'm absolutely in love with the playing and musical choices of Ruthie Foster and Gary Clark Jr.
