We are looking for vocalists for the opera MelanchoLalaland, written by Joey Bargsten, Ph.D. (music composition) that will be premiered September 13 at The Miami Beach Cinematheque. Joey is an associate professor at FAU and an award-winning composer, filmmaker. The opera is contemporary, with the libretto written by writer, Thea Zimmer. The opera (having a lot of digital video and animation components) had a recent preview (with a temporary cast) at FilmGate Interactive 2015 at the Miami Light Project Lightbox Theater. Joey would like to give you a call to discuss the opera and the vocalist role you’d be considered for. You’d be paid at competitive rates. One of the grants received for the show was from the Knight Foundation Arts Challenge grant. Though your role would be “live,” one of the voice-overs Joey will use in one of the opera’s non-live components is from an opera singer (friend of Joey’s) who sings at the Met in NYC. So, you’ll be in great company!
