ABOUT

I am happy to announce that Sounds in the South of NC has found a sponsor and practice space. Rufty Holmes Senior Center has agreed to give Sounds in the South practice space at their facility. With that said, it is time to put the band together!

Sounds in the South will be a paying band. We will be playing music from Glenn Miller, Chicago, KC & Shine Band, Isaac Hayes, Beach Boys, Average White Band to name a few. The band will be set up like a 70's horn band.

Instrumentation that is needed are:
1 Alto Saxophone - 1 Tenor Saxophone & 1 Baritone Saxophone Player. Saxophone players should be able to play Clarinet and or Flute. As some music will require it.

Brass: 1st and 2nd Trumpet, Lead Trombone. Also would like to find a trumpet player that can play Flugelhorn.

Rhythm and vocalist positions are filled

Influences

My dad was my big inspiration to me becoming a musician. I played in many types of bands from High School Marching & Jazz Band, Drum and Bugle Corps for 2 years, St. Petersburg Second Time Arounders Marching Band for 26 years, to owning my very own 22 piece Big Band Voices of Jazz of Dunedin, Fl for the last 10 years! My dad passed back in 1985 and I have dedicated my life in music to my dad. The NEW Sounds in the South of NC will be playing music from the 50's to early 80's. By doing this we will be able to reach out to all walks of life and more venues!

Members Of Band

All members must be able to read music. Due to new music coming in all the time you need to be able to sight read the music well. You will be expected to be at all practices or else excused by the director.

To be able to perform you are required to be at the 2 practices prior to the performance date or else excused. it is VERY important to have everyone committed to practices and performances. We understand things come up that may keep you from practices and/or a performance. But to sound good and put on the BEST performance everyone needs to be there.

EQUIPMENT

All musicians are required to have their own instrument and equipment (amps for guitar, bass & keyboard) and (Black) music stand. Band will provide you with the music book.

Uniforms: Will vary depending on performances.
