ABOUT

NOTE: We are in the very early formation stage.

MISSION: This will be a high-concept band with a unique vision: Keeping old-school Americana/ Outlaw Country/ Bluegrass traditions alive while pushing the envelope and breaking down genre boundaries. As an example, Punk and Thrash Metal are influential here -- as are many other diverse musical styles including TV & film scores, 1980s alt/ underground, video game music, experimental/ avant-garde weirdness, Prog Rock, authentic Native/ Indigenous American tribal music, etc. -- along with whatever else you feel like bringing in.

Phantoms of Pioche will begin as an uncommon cover band incorporating obscure songs & deep cuts, with a hearty dose of twisted humor and a fun but dark theatrical/ visual atmosphere. If this is done right, and we get a solid repertoire of these kinds of songs down & tight, I predict that we'll never be out of work. At first, we'll just consider it a "hardcore hobby", and just see how things go.

Ideally, all members of this outfit will be competent vocalists who can at least sing good backup, a few who can harmonize quite well, and in this particular band scenario, multi-instrumentalists are highly prized. A vast array of instruments will litter our stage, and the more of these you can play the better!

Additionally, there are and will always be original songs and compositions in development, and collaborations/ contributions from all members will be heartily encouraged on this front.

EQUIPMENT

Thus far our available instruments include:

2 6-string electric guitars, 2 acoustic/ electrics (one steel string, one nylon/ classical), + effects/ modeling pedal, a 5-string bass, 5-String Banjo, one Violin, 2 mandolins, one acoustic/ electric ukelele, 2 controller keyboards, an upright Wurlitzer piano, a 5-piece drum kit, glockenspiel, harmonica, slide whistle, train whistle, tambourine (not green, but I'm working on it) several microphones & a few amps, and always more on the way. If you have a PA and can sing backup, you're in.

UPDATE: We have now added: A double neck lap steel (brand new lower-end model, will probably be modding/ upgrading that), a nearly 100-year-old Slingerland banjo-ukelele, and a 119-year-old Hohner mini accordion (and it works!). On a roll here with a couple of nice mojo-building vintage instruments!

Also, just launched a website: Nothing there yet but it looks kinda cool so far: www.PhantomsOfPioche.com
