ABOUT

We are a Mathcore band, looking for a drummer who likes rhythmically technical music.

The Awful Din has dwindled down to two members, unfortunately. Partly due to me moving to the Pacific Northwest for 4 years for a career. Now I'm back in AZ.

We used to do a bunch of shows in Arizona. We did a little tour in the Pacific Northwest. Our first show was with The Dillinger Escape Plan. We almost played a show with Glassjaw. Both happen to be huge influences on the music we make.

I'm practicing old songs again and learning new ones. We really need an awesome drummer to replace the one we had. The former drummer was phenomenal and we're hoping you'll match that or surpass that. We also hope our next drummer will be a decent person (not a sociopath), who can afford their own gear and can pitch for recording in studios.

Starting from our basic requirements to our preferences, we look for these skills: odd time signatures, syncopation, polymeter, polyrhythms (up to 4 simultaneously), metric modulation/irrational time signatures(10/6 is an example), micro-rhythms, and etc. We had to teach our first drummer how to do odd time signatures. We want to avoid teaching some of these things, but we totally understand we'll most likely have to discuss the latter concepts. No worries about that.
