ABOUT

Gospel group The Banks Brothers consists of Eugene, Princeton, and Cedric. They were born in West Helena, Arkansas, and began their singing career, in 1996, in churches in their city. With their mother, Eleanor Banks, seeing the talent and the unity in her boys, she named the group and worked very hard with the help of other family and friends, to get her boys in just about every church in the city. Soon The Banks Brothers was singing at a different church every weekend. With the God and their mother, The Banks Brothers has been seen in cities such as Chicago, Dallas, Orlando, Memphis, Pine Bluff, Little Rock, and many more cities across the states. The Banks Brothers had soon become known for singing acapella. "We tried to be smart about it, we never had a band or nothing to play for us, so instead of getting up there singing a song that really needed music, we just sang songs that don't supposed to have music", says Cedric Banks. With gospel group heroes like the Fairfield Four, The Golden Gate Quartet, and many others, the brothers started singing songs such as, "My God Called Me this Morning", "Be With Me Jesus", and "Lord Hold My Hand", The Banks Brothers, praised the Lord every time. People loved to hear these brothers sing, not just because they had a unique sound that you really don't hear around now, but you can feel the unity in the brothers. In 1998 The Banks Brothers, became infatuated with the gospel rap and gospel R&B, soon the brothers started to put that feel in their songs. The Banks Brothers has also been known to change different R&B and Rap songs to gospel. Songs such as 'One Man' by Tank, 'Dirt off My Shoulders' by Jay-Z, and many more. Many people didn't like this side of the brothers, but they didn't really care, they kept on singing and rapping. "We soon learned that we need something for everybody. Some young folks may not understand Amazing Grace, but if we sing Stand by Me Jesus, that has a lil R&B feel to it, they might understand that better.” says Eugene Banks. After they seen that they had a few followers that was with their new style, they made more songs.

In 2004, the mother of The Banks Brothers passed away due to cancer. In result, and instead of the brothers quitting they was said to go "hardcore gospel". "We had to go "hardcore gospel". All that is, is just an uncut way of talking to the devil. A lot of times we talk to God, and that’s all good but we learned you also have to talk to the devil too. Telling him we ain't gone quit just because our mother is gone. This is what God wants us to do and our mother. We still do old time gospel but we do the rapping too." says Princeton Banks.

In 2005 and present The Banks Brothers are doing all types of gospel, Old Time Gospel (Acapella), Traditional Gospel, R&B Gospel, Gospel Rap, Gospel Rock, Country Gospel, and Gospel Oldies. The Banks Brothers are anxiously anticipating their radio debut. With their rap song “Stomp the Devil in the Dirt”, The Banks Brothers are sure to make a big debut in the city of Memphis, Tennessee and West Helena, Arkansas. “We decided we’ll just try to start in our home town first then go out to the other parts of the world,” says The Banks Brothers.

The Banks Brothers are a group on the rise to tell everybody about Jesus. Also even telling the Devil that he ain’t wanted either. Pray for The Banks Brothers and everything they trying and going to do.
