ABOUT

If I were to start a band…
- All original material
- While the intent is not to stay in the basement, the focus would be on developing a sound, style and material, over live performance. To have fun making something different and unique rather than learn material to perform.
- The band could perform covers but should heavily change or influence the arrangement; no note for note performances. The intent is original material first, not to be a cover band.
- The style would bend based on the contributions of its members. Material/sound would be inspired by each members diverse style/influences.
- Creativity would not be limited to fitting a specific genre. The band would not be formed or intentionally focus writing material to be indie, punk, metal, etc.
- Creative input would be welcomed but ultimately it is up to each musician receiving the recommendation to accept or reject feedback.
- Each member owns an instrument/responsibility primarily but can write and perform on others as arrangements require. Members should not feel held back or limited because the instrument they prominently play in the group.
- Roles are not assigned by gender. No “looking for male vocalist” etc.
- Majority rules. Everyone in the band gets a vote on the material to put forward in performance or recording.
- Everything written and recorded must have the ability to be reproduced in live performance.
