Hello!

My name is Ty, and I have been playing music for about 8 years. Although I consider my primary instrument to be guitar, I started playing my first instrument, trumpet, in junior high, and continue to play to this day.

I started playing guitar very shortly after beginning trumpet and am self-taught. I started with my childhood favorite, Green Day, and have branched to a large number of other genres in my 8 years of playing.

I play both electric and acoustic. My recent obsession is with Latin music. Since being told by a music professor that my natural playing style has a Latin accent to it, I have been studying and playing most of the genres I've learned with a newfound understanding of my uniquely Latin-flavored guitar playing, implementing it in my improv work and everything else. This goes for all instruments I have listed that I play.

I'm also a pretty good improv guitarist, especially when it comes to blues, jazz, and Latin-inspired music.

A good, trusted friend of mine, who happens to be an exceptional guitarist with a few years of gig experience, and with similar taste, once described my playing style (especially my improv) as being similar to that of Santana.

Another friend, who is also an excellent and trusted guitarist, and also a professional sound engineer, said he believed he could hear influences in my improv from Robby Krieger of The Doors, as well as some 90s Green Day sounds, and some occasional phrases that sound similar to those of Hendrix.

I love to play guitar, especially when I get to jam with an audience present!

That being said, I have a lot of experience as a performer (search the web for footage of "Lumberjack Marching Band" to see me playing my trumpet in the front row and marching corps) and I am ready to record some tracks for an album or play at Texas and Louisiana venues to spread the sheer joy of living inside an infinite musical moment.

My contains some demos of mine - they are mostly covers right now, but I will be recording an album with a senior sound engineering major prior to his graduation, as well as making demos of and posting my originals in the near future.

As you will also hear in the recordings, I sing. My finest recorded singing is on the first track of my playlist (being a novice at production has led to some vocal issues in my earliest recordings, especially in the Across the Universe cover, which was the first song I ever recorded and posted).

My best singing happens when playing Doors-like blues rock or Green Day-type punk music. My influences listed are not just for guitar; many, if not most, are also equally inspirational to my singing style.

I am a great lead blues singer, and enjoy playing with words while I sing, similar to the way Hendrix and Jim Morrison did it. My voice can really punch (in a good way, rest assured), since a lot of my singing experience comes from punk and blues. However, I also have a good amount of control over my voice, a good feel for dynamics and diction, as well as an arsenal of many different vocal tones which I can use at will. This enables me to also get that really soft, Chet Baker-type vocal tone.

I am also a great backup vocalist and have a good ear for really gorgeous harmonies.

My singing experience timeline mostly lines up with my guitar experience; I have been actively singing and practicing singing for 8-10 years as well.

Let's jam!
