ABOUT

Hello bandmix people of Nov 2020. I'm looking to share my guitar skills and mediocre voice with other local Houston musicians. Whether it would be down just to jam, or write and record, or play gigs, or all of the above. You may have seen and heard some of my old band's tracks on this profile, but be sure I've been playing plenty still. Most recently I've been doing some studio guitar tracking for my song writing friend who does a bunch of Americana folk rock style. I enjoy playing it all, except country, but I'll play along if you really want.

Influences

I grew up on classic rock thanks to my father, as well as a lot of alternative rock in the 90's thanks to my older siblings. Blue Oyster Cult is my favorite band, but I enjoy much more than the usual supsects of rock (Zep, Hendrix, Clapton). In no particular order I like Steely Dan, Galactic, Nina Simone, Porcupine Tree, Tool, Pearl Jam, STP, Alice in Chains, Deep Purple, Natalia Lafourcade, Yelle, Gorillaz, Yes, Ripple Groove, Pomplamoose, The Flaming Lips. This list could go on exponentially. I'm really interested in dynamic songs, where simplicity meets complexity, and creating an overall enjoyable engaging sound.

-Dean Vendetta electric with some custom modifications, aka Frankendean
-Acoustic Ovation Celebrity
-1987 gibson/WRC shark
-Fender bandmaster amp
-Sure mic
-Woodson PA system (head, 2 towers with 4 12 inch speakers in each.
-Zoom and Boss pedals
-headphones and computer studio set-up
-Pretty sure we have everything needed to gig any venue as well as record

Phrolic has been invited to play for the Annual Katy, TX Marathon part of the Bayou City Half Marathon Series. This marathon is unlike any other in which live music acts are set up along the running route to encourage participants to keep the pace until the finish line is cleared.

Part of the H*Town Winter Throwdown organized by Gorilla Music. A great opportunity to check out local bands representing the city of Houston.
