I'm a self-taught drummer who greatly enjoys playing, writing, and composing progressive music that tends to be more classically influenced that metal influenced: more Flower Kings and Yes rather than Animals as Leaders or Opeth. I have a vast knowledge of odd time signatures, odd note groupings, poly-rhythms, as well as a intermediate understanding of music theory, i.e. the circle of fifths, diatonic modes, note intervals ect. While I do greatly enjoy playing progressive music, I also enjoy fusion/ improvisational music. I know how to lay down a solid groove, but really feel my musical skills come in the complementing of other musicians, not mere time keeping. One of my favorite things to do is to improvise over an odd time signature, similar to the style of Frank Zappa or Mahavishnu Orchestra. I enjoy the creative process of writing and arranging songs as well as creating rhythms that are complimentary or contrapuntal to the other musicians parts.
