My name is Al Rodriguez and I'm a 24 year old electric bass player who just recently moved to the DMV area from Cleveland, Ohio. I'm a music teacher in FCPS and have a degree in music from the Cleveland Institute of Music in Cleveland, Ohio. My focus instrument in college was mainly classical double bass, although I did multiple gigs out playing jazz, etc.

I recently got out of a 4-year tenure with a band called The Midnight Slander that I founded, toured with, and recorded multiple studio releases. You can look them up on iTunes/Spotify to hear samples of my bass work. Due to the distance of the move for my job, that band and I have split ways, and I'm looking to find some new players to make music with and see what happens from there. The group I was with focused mainly on southern influenced americana-rock, but I'm happy to really play whatever as I have a variety of influences.

Influences

The bands/bass players that have mostly shaped my playing include RHCP, Muse, Green Day, Weezer, Hendrix, Cream, Dave Matthews Band, as well as all sorts of hip-hop. I take my influences from whatever sounds interesting and makes people want to move. When I write lines, I like to be tasteful and groovy as opposed to over-the-top.
