ABOUT

My name is Barney Cockburn. I began classically trained in Vocals and Piano at my church starting at 4 years old, developing my ear. I then picked up my main instrument, guitar, and discovered Jimi Hendrix at 7-years-old. That changed it all.

Been a semi-professional, now professional musician every since and never looked back nor will I. I'm a lifer, and chose that route the day I started playing. It's a burning soul in someone's desire only they can understand.

I played in mostly cover bands and one original rock band throughout Middle and High School, then started at 80's Cover Band- "Cockburn," (had a built-in name since it's on my birth certificate which turned into an original band, "Hammer," that began blowing up the Red River Austin Metal Scene back when Austin had a scene. Anyone that was there around 2005-2011 (and before and after) would remember.

"Hammer" broke up RIGHT as we were getting label interest and that's when I went to the 'River City Rock Fest' to see Alive in Chains with their name guy- Willie Duvall. Little did I know it wasn't that, but actually Axl and Friends' set that would change my life that night- RICHARD FORTUS.

I watched him play a 10-minute solo covering EVERY style, genre, technique, etc. that there is on the guitar. That's when I decided I wanted to be the most diverse, badass, all-around monster on the guitar like him. Impeccable tone, and insatiable love for gear and playing live in general.

I started playing for the Texas Country Scene right thereafter and after only about 6-8 years, started getting some big auditions. This is also the time I got an offer from a Music Group called "Edgewater Music Group" to do an IndieGoGo, make an album and use Sony's "The Orchard" to market and distribute the album.

That's where I am now. I just finished writing the album, am about to go track it with an INCREDIBLE producer, and the once it's mixed and mastered, and gonna be working my hands to bone for radio play, hopefully with Sony's backing making it a little bit less arduous.

I NEED A DRUMMER.

I'm going to be doing a 21-Pilots deal where it's a 2-piece, though we don't sound much like them at all. We'll just be a 2-piece that runs a deep sine-wave for the low end and some very beautiful atmospheric synths and pads that are a very big part of our sound. Then I'll be playing guitar and singing, and the drummer will be playing drums.

An E-Kit would be great for 2 reasons: 1) There are some lofi and early 90's 808 breaks in some of the synth breaks where I'm playing really pretty melodic blues over the synths, and you'd only need an E-kit's kick. hats/controller and snare, which would all be run through my SUPER computer with an 8-core AMD-Ryzen so there's be NO latency, and you'd have the samples pre-loaded, so you wouldn't just be sitting there NOT playing when there's percussion being played.

Then. the rest (majority- like 80% of the time. you'd be playing your kit.)
2) A lot of venues have become sticklers about noise ESPECIALLY after 10:30. so if we were to use my (or your) E-Kit, we could probably sneak around that rule a lot easier. We could also simply play gigs that only allow E-Kits, which is a sad but true ;) reality that I've seen happen since being born and raised that is eventually gonna run off a lot of live bands.into the peripheral Austin areas where they don't care.

One last thing- you'll need to be comfortable with an IEM System, since you'll be syncing us then starting us into the song by hitting play on the laptop.

Anyway- I've spoken enough. That's where I'm at, what I need, and am, ready to get started with you IMMEDIATAELY. I right off Burnet and 45th St.- Central, and have a home studio with everything we need, including a set of wireless IEM for each of us and a pretty damn good mesh E-Kit.

EQUIPMENT

Everything I need. Listed above is everything you need.

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A PROFESSIONAL GUITARIST FOR HIRE, EMAIL ME AND [email protected]

I CAN LITERALLY PLAY ANY TYPES OF GENRES NEEDED. I CAN SIT BACK AND PLAY NEARLY NOTHING OR BE THE LEAD GUITARIST YOU NEED. I HAVE MORE GEAR THAN I CAN LIST HEAR, AND GOT MY LAST 2 AUDITIONS WITHOUT PRACTICING, BEING SENT THE SONGS, ETC.

Sat down, they liked my personality (since touring is being married to 4+ people on the road for up to 30 and more hours of driving at the time), tone, ear and ability to lay back and take their que on when to open up and let it soar.

Anyway- email above email of text me at (512) 214-0389 if you're looking for a gun-for-hire. I LOVE PLAYING ONSTAGE and unless I'm playing another show, there's nothing that gets in the way of me playing live.
