Music has been taking a nose dive from the heartless tree for some time. I feel its worse than ever the past few years. This really affects a bassist more than any other musician. I believe in the pocket but I also believe in being bold. Im not talking about your lyrics, your riffs or your image. Im talking about what you perceive to be important in a fished product. The music industry wants you replicate the status quo and believe thats the only way.
Im 38, been playing bass since I was 15. I learn new stuff everyday and certain things I still would like to be better at. I have not gigged at all since I moved here from Chicago in 2017. Looking to get back into things. Prefer original writing. A few covers are ok here and there. I've recorded with three different bands and played many gigs in Chicago.
