Contraption is an original jam rock, funk music project from Nevada City, CA. Taking influences from around the musical globe, Contraption weaves and explores sound that
makes you want to move.
Musical collaborators, Ron Charles and Chris Johnson teamed up again to build a foundation for a new original sound. Incorporating a common love of jam rock, psychedelic improv, and a variety of lifelong musical influences - Ron’s songwriting, vocal, and rhythm guitar combined with Chris’ lead grooves on the guitar and octave mandolin were a perfect catalyst to create this new project.
Brian Shea was soon added on bass, further defining the sound. Brian is a talented multi-instrumentalist, adding new, creative energy and pushing the sound boundaries. Experienced drummer, Kevin McElligott, completes the rhythm section. Kevin holds it down steady and is always ready for taking it to the next level. These creative musicians have come together from different backgrounds, influences, and experiences to create Contraption - a genre bending, positive musical experience that will get you moving and exploring the dance floor.
