ABOUT

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SINGER!!!

I'm a 50-ish bass player in a Cheap Trick band. Our singer will be moving on to focus on his other projects, so we are looking for a successor who can take us to the next level.

Cheap Trick is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band who has been influenced by everyone before them (Beatles, the Who, Slade) and who has played with every great rock band from literally AC/DC to ZZ Top, and who has influenced multiple generations of bands over four decades (Poison, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Okay Go, just to name a few). And after over 45 years, not only is Cheap Trick still standing, in May 2021, they had their first #1 album on the rock charts!

Robin Zander's voice is as incredible today as it was when they first started, pure and melodic enough for the ballads, and like a freight train full of TNT for the more aggressive songs. We are looking for someone who can bring that kind of talent and performance to the group.

We are not a note-for-note, look-alike tribute. We are rooted in "Budokan-era," but have been moving forward through their 45+ years of power pop and hard rock catalog. We are low-ego, low-maintenance, easy to get along with musicians who are eager to bring this great music to today's audience.

We are also interested in a keyboardist who can round out the sound and fill in the higher vocal harmonies.

If you don't know much about CT, but this idea intrigues you, check them out, do a be search of the Don Kirchner show. I suggest a few of the following, but almost every song on the first five albums (Cheap Trick '77, In Color, Heaven Tonight, Budokan, Dream Police, All Shook Up, and even a couple "must do's" from One on One) makes for a kick-ass live jam.

Hot Love - from self-titled Cheap Trick album '77
Come On, Come On - In Color album
California Man - Heaven Tonight album
Big Eyes - In Color and Live at Budokan albums
Dream Police - Dream Police album
Just Got Back - All Shook Up album
If You Want My Love - One on One album

Not convinced? Try these, and i could go on and on...

He's a Whore - Cheap Trick '77
Southern Girls - In Color
Clock Strikes Ten - In Color
High Roller - Heaven Tonight
Auf Wiederseh'n - Heaven Tonight
Stiff Competition - Heaven Tonight
Lookout - Budokan
I'll Be With You Tonight - Dream Police
Voices - Dream Police (a ballad)
Stop This Game - All Shook Up
She's Tight - One on One album
Day Tripper (live) - the best Beatles cover ever!

And the more "pop" stuff from the 80's forward:
I Can't Take It
Tonight It's You
Mighty Wings
The Flame
Don't Be Cruel
Can't Stop Falling Into Love
You're All I Wanna Do
Say Goodbye
Sick Man Of Europe
No Direction Home
Light Up the Fire
Here Comes the Summer

Influences

Love to listen to all forms of rock from roots of American rock-n-roll (Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, etc.) to the architects (Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard), to all things 60's (Beatles, Who, Stones), classic rock (KISS, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Queen). I grew up in the 80's on Iron Maiden, AC-DC, Billy Squier but listen to more pop 80's now than I did then, loved Soundgarden, Offspring, Foo, and Presidents of USA in the 90's. Great rock-n-roll has been a little harder to come by in the 2000's. And to tie it all together, I'm a huge Weird Al Yankovic fan!
