If the tune has compelling melody and chords, I’m all in!
Someday when I grow up, I’d like to play Robben Ford, Herbie, Miles, Wayne Shorter, Keith Jarrett—post-50s as well as Brazilian jazz.
But as of January 2024, my current skills limit me to playing blues, blues with jazz harmonies, & pop. James Taylor, various NOLA guys like Jon Cleary, Neville Bros, The Meters; Soul in the 60s as a kid in LA...
you pick up a lot of ideas & interests from all over the place over the years. For styles, NOT into playing punk, polkas, ska, metal, disco, opera; but almost any tune can be applied to styles that are fun to play!
