The constraints of the input form don’t tell our story very well. We’re producing one single of a very fun, original song that has a strong Afro-Caribbean soul. It needs a superb percussionist, arranger, and recording-producer, and a set of equally superb singers who thrive on harmony, counterpoint, and rhythm – and who will bring their talent, creativity, improv, insouciance, and big laughs to this project. Song has been performed live-solo/acoustic many times to all-positive responses, but that style does not do this song justice. Composed to be sung by responsible but irrepressible rebels in a fictitious “speak”-easy, it is bright, VERY family- and kid-friendly, heart-warming, and spirit-lifting. We pulled it out of an archive so it might bring light to dark times anywhere and everywhere. So we’re searching far and wide for a set of out-there-talented musicians who will be the perfect fit for each other and this unique project. Recording will probably take place in the south-eastern US (NC, SC, GA, FL, TN are possibilities). Pay is negotiable professional one-time rate for rehearsal and studio recording time (about the same budget is what’s likely to be available whether for very large or very small ensemble), OR donation to an organization we agree is worthy, and a free copy of the final mix in its published format. Copyright ownership of everything will be retained entirely by the songwriter/project-producer. If this project intrigues you and it seems like your soul is a match for it, please – don’t just think about it and put it off for later. Reach out now with stuff that reveals who you are, like links to audio samples, your genuine reaction to this description, thoughts about possibilities for bringing the song to life, the kind of music you love, logistics ideas and solutions. We won’t be able to respond to all inquiries, but … as we all know, that’s show biz and doesn’t mean a thing.
