ABOUT

I am primarily a rhythm guitar/saxophone player, but can cover parts on several other instruments, as well as some vocals. After a 7 year stint with the cover band Playground (.playgroundrocks) I've been on hiatus for a while. I'm looking to start playing again though...you can also contact me through Playground's website in the Bio section, or s_nhoj at ya hoo

I'm not sure what type of project I want to get involved with this time around, but I definitely want to connect with other musicians that are passionate about what they are doing.

Influences

My listening preferences cover almost every genre, but musically I'm pretty much a product of the 80's and got into bands like Styx, Journey, REO, Men at Work, Scorpions, Triumph, Chicago (more early stuff), and Steely Dan. But I also grew up listening to country and have always enjoyed playing in big band style groups as well (love the layering of sound and rich harmonics you get from a full horn section). Jazz fusion (Spyro Gyra) and smooth jazz (Grover Washington/David Sanborn/Dave Koz) are also favorites. Over the past few years, I've also been getting into alt/current rock - 3 Doors Down, Collective Soul, Evanescence, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Tonic, etc.
