ABOUT
My gig rig now consists of a djembe, congas, and bongos, with a crash cymbal and hi-hat. I use the djembe as a kick drum and snare, using my left hand for a kick sound and a brushes for a snare tone. The conga provides whatever extra tone is called for on any particular tune - I use hands and/or sticks on the conga. Together the kit sounds like a small hybridized drum kit, but it covers a LOT of ground. I've played in all sorts of situations, from cover rock to acoustic to jazz, more genres than I was able to list earlier.

Packwood Dixon Duo demo
Packwood Dixon Duo demo Track number: 1 Year: 2016 Album: Demo Genre: Other
A very wide sampling from one of our retirement home gigs, so it doesn't showcase the rock/americana elements. (Unfortunately, this duo is no mas.)

Sea of Cortez Track number: 2 Year: 2016 Album: Explodes & Disappears/Walter Salas Humara Genre: Americana
One of 3 tracks Walter had me play percussion on, recorded at his home in Flagstaff, AZ, in May of '16. (Can't allow a free upload but if you go to waltersalashumara.com, you can get it there.)

When You're gone
When You're gone Track number: 3 Year: 2012 Album: Kostas recorded live at the Kountry Korner Cafe, Sept. '12 Genre: Acoustic
Kostas is a long-time Montana singer/songwriter (one of the best ones around, IMHO), who won acclaim in Nashville w/several country artists and awards. This group consists of Kostas/guitar & vocals; Bob Packwood/keys; myself on percussion (this song features my djembe played as kick and snare); and not positive but I think Rich Riesser on bass.
