ABOUT

Mentally unstable bass player seeks like minded musicians to create the greatest party band in the history of the Universe.

I'm a bass player (upright and electric both), who just moved to Cambridge. Over the years I have played in classical ensembles, jazz bands, rock bands, punk bands, singer/songwriter backing groups, hip-hop groups, funk bands, punk bands.... a lotta bands. I've played in a lot of bad bands and a few good ones. I've recording a bunch of albums, toured Europe 4 times, and I did a stint as a guest musician with a band that racked up a No. 3 hit in Austria.

I love making music in all genres but above all I love making music that gets a crowd fired up and dancing. I'm looking to join (or start if necessary), a party band. I love writing and playing original songs but my primary goal is to make sure audiences walk away from our gigs thinking they had the best night of their lives and so I'm always game to put a couple shameless covers in a set (however, I do take pride in my shameless covers and try to make sure that at least they sound great when I play them. Also I don't see any reason they need to be played straight. I am always game to rearrange any song into any genre to make it more interesting -- for example I once played in a band called Black Shabbat that only ever played black sabbath songs in the style of traditional jewish Klezmer music or klezmer music in the style of black sabbath. That band rocked! And we made some decent money playing bar mitzvahs).

Right now I'm hoping to meet some like-minded musicians and form a band that can make the people of the greater Boston metropolitan area (and eventually the world) dance like they have never danced before.

I do have a day job and which is pretty serious so my time is limited but I'd love to practice or gig about once or twice a week with some talented musicians with some good stage energy. I pick up songs pretty quickly so with the right band I could be on stage at a local bar pretty quickly. I'm not looking to make a career out of music but just to make sure as much of my free time as possible is spent making noise, playing gigs and getting free beers.

If you're interested in putting a band together, jamming some tunes, or just drinkin' a few beers and talking about music, get in touch. You can reach me at j_traer "AT" "DOT" com.

I have many more recorded tracks I' be happy to email out if anyone is interested in hearing more.
