Peyton “Ms. Drumz” Bailey was first introduced to the steel drum at the age of twelve and was immediately drawn to its soothing melodic sounds. As she continued to learn more about the history behind its Trinidadian origins, she developed a true appreciation of the process and the ingenuity that the pans represent. With an extensive repertoire that includes songs from Calypso, R&B, Pop, Top 40, Gospel and Holiday music across multiple decades, she utilizes the power of the steel drum in order to entertain, engage, and ultimately relax people from all backgrounds. As a featured performer for the City of Virginia Beach’s Live on the Atlantic and a Caribbean Soloist for Carnival Cruise Lines, Ms. Drumz takes pride in adding a fun and exciting flavor to any given occasion. Furthermore, she also has experience in performing at funerals with an appropriate song selection designed to comfort bereaving families. In addition, Ms. Drumz has started her organization, Urban Sound Inc, in an effort to teach youth and adults the unique art of the steel drum. The class currently operates as a band of roughly 10-15 students and will continue to expand. As she continues her growth as a both a teacher, musical arranger, and entertainer, Ms. Drumz’s ultimate goal is to embrace the power and uniqueness of the steel drum while providing enjoyment to virtually any crowd.
