Band to Join.ABOUT
Robb Benham is a full time Musician/Guitar/Bass and Music Theory Instructor/Studio Musician who teaches and operates through his company, Temple of the Fret, located in Portland, Oregon. Robb has literally played with and for dozens of bands over the years, building a reputation for himself as a "go to guy" for recording and fill in work. Robb briefly served as a temp bassist for the punk outfit, The Circle Jerks as well as a memorable 3 month stint on guitar with none other than the late and ever infamous G.G Allen. Robb currently plays Guitar for the Portland, Oregon rock band, 8 Ohm Prophet ://./8ohmprophe as well as Bass for the avant garde psyche group, The Mangled Bohemians s://./mangled.bohemians, and again playing some down and dirty Classic Rock lead guitar for Dave's Killer Blues Band (Owned by the owner and creator of Dave's Killer Bread). Robb has considerable commercial and corporate studio experience, working both for Radio and TV, including two scores for the Sci-Fi Chanel and a series of Nike "Just do It" commercials. Though Robb grew up with bass as his primary instrument, these days he feels equally comfortable on either guitar or the latter. Upon entering college Robb had to chose two other instruments aside from his primary (bass), so picking up up guitar and keyboards Robb went on to earn a BA in Music Education. While finding the ear training associated with keyboard to be pivotal in his development as a musician admittedly Robb has no where near the level of skill of a true keyboard player and hasn't played since college. An avid gear head and trader Robb's inventory is constantly shifting, although his main guitars have fairly consistently stayed a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, a 1994 Gibson EDS-1275 Doubleneck, a 2005 Gibson ES-135, and a 2005 Gibson Firebird Studio. Robb's main amp is a Rivera Knucklehead 55 head going through a Rivera 4x12 cab loaded with Weber Bluedogs and Celestion V30's in a "x" pattern. When playing bass Robb uses a G&L L-2000, and a G&L ASAT bass, playing these through an American made Ampeg SVT Classic with either 4x10 or 6x10 cabs, respective to the gig at hand. I can be reached at 503-884-1563 or just type his name with a dot (robb.benham) in the middle at for inquiries and details.
