ABOUT

I'm a 45 year old white, balding prick. Started taking serious guitar lessons for about three years from an amazing jazz guitarist, who taught me the fundamentals so I could teach myself how to play the songs I wanted to learn, have the ability to step in with a band, and be able to play impromptu by knowing how to play within a key. I continued to self teach myself up to this very day. I recently acquired a bass, after years of wanting to try my hand at it. Found that I already knew how to play it by knowing root notes. At the moment I'm completely obsessed with it, and would be the most comfortable position in a band for me. I've also gotten decent with a ukelele. I can sing, but not I'm not interested in the type of unoriginal, run of the mill style of singing people emulate on The Voice. They all sound just alike. A band's strength should be centered around the musicians, and when something requires the human voice attached to notes, or convey a phrase that has to be sung. I'm a fan of all members of a band sharing singing duties.

Influences

First record I ever owned was Paul McCartney Tug of War. I still love Paul, and he's the reason I learned to play bass. Pink Floyd are deities in my religion. So are the Beatles. I learned to play rock and roll emulating John, Paul, and George. I'm not a drummer, but I think Ringo has unparalleled time. Recently I got turned on to Kevin Ayers, along with Syd Barrett's post Floyd era. I love Slayer, Bob Will's and his Texas Playboys, Tchaikovsky, Alice Cooper, Unknown Hinson, Harry Nilsson, and the late great Frank Zappa.
